Neckface

I really like his style- it is creepy an interesting. He is anonymous, and never shows his face in interviews. I find his use of bright, happy colors in such morbid, evil drawings to be a very amusing juxtaposition.

Pieter Bruegel I

Triumph of Death

Pieter Bruegel I

1562

I love the detail in this scene; It feel like I could look at it for hours!! Complicated paintings like this contain such intricate stories, and I am interested the particularly dismal atmosphere of this one.

William Nicholson

H. M. The Queen

Nicholson, William

1897.

The juxtaposition of the goofy little dog next to the angry old woman amuses me. Stylistically, I like the simplified colors and shapes.

Audrey Kawasaki

I just think everything this artist makes is beautiful. Her style is so distinct and organic. This makes me want to try painting on wood sometime.

Karel Allard

Map of the World
Karel Allard

c. 1710

I found this piece while searching artstor. I chose it because I have recently become very inspired by the imagery of maps, and want to start incorporating them into my own work.
